100 hour challenge

Ewan proposed we take on a 100 hour challenge for learning a new tool, approach, or topic this year. What is your choice for a challenge?

  1. I'm kicking off my 100 hours by experimenting with video and screencasts for a library parent-volunteer orientation. The hope is to eventually master these tools for use in presenting/sharing student work. Ready, set, go!

  2. I will explore tools to create an online library presence that will foster more dynamic communication between HRS libraries and the community(students, staff, parents, alums...)

  3. I am currently working on a class blog for women's lit and am trying to find the best way to get ideas shared with a class...

  4. I'm working on understanding how Diigo works with class groups. Most recently, the problem came up that if I had created a Diigo account for a senior in CoPo, then Crystal could not make an account with the same email address for that student who is in Women's Lit--I think she needs to use the account info I have and add it to her list on the Teacher Console.

There's a Diigo USER FORUM! While there is almost no user help built into the app at the moment, the user forum is active--you can go there and then search it for the problem you're trying to solve.

  5. My 100 hours came into focus as our blogging workshop progressed on Wednesday afternoon. With four different blogging platforms in use at once, it became clear that to provide assistance, I need to learn the admin side of Posterous and Trulio in addition to Edublogs and Finalsite. Also, I'd like to build a little library of helpful screencasts to assist our budding bloggers with the trickier procedures for their blog engines. Perhaps I could post them on our wiki Techwhirls. Might we use Techwhirls as a collective repository for our workshop notes and resources?

  6. Oh, not Trulio, it's "tumblr" that a few teachers are using. Nice themes there.
